Geneva College welcomes Dr. Vincent Bacote as a guest chapel speaker on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He will be teaching from Philippians 2 with the message "The Word of Public and Private Life."

Bacote is the Director of the Center for Applied Christian Ethics and an Associate Professor of Theology at Wheaton College, where he has been a faculty member since 2000. He is the author of The Spirit in Public Theology: Appropriating the Legacy of Abraham Kuyper (2005), and has contributed to books including On Kuyper (2013), Aliens in the Promised Land (2013), Keep Your Head Up (2012) and Prophetic Evangelicals (2012).

He is also a regular columnist for Comment (wrf.ca/comment) and has also had articles appear in magazines such as Books and Culture, Christianity Today, Think Christian and re:generation quarterly.

Bacote is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Christian Ethics.

Chapel, a weekly devotional time for the Geneva College community, is held on Wednesdays from 10:15-11 a.m. in Metheny Fieldhouse. This time provides an opportunity for the campus to gather together to praise God, hear His word, and seek His favor and direction. Attendance is required for students and the entire campus community is encouraged to participate.

Bacote will also be leading a pastoral theology conference entitled "Taking the Kingdom to the Streets" at the College Hill RP Church the following weekend. The workshop will occur Friday and Saturday, October 24-25, from 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Registration for the workshop is due by October 17. Tickets are $15 and include admittance to all workshop sessions plus brunch on Saturday. For registration, email Karen Hicks at secretary@collegehillrp.com.
