Beaver Falls, PA– Junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) opened his Geneva career with a double-double, scoring 16 and grabbing 11 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Hilbert used a 16-0 run to move ahead of Geneva, then withheld a late rally and held on to defeat Geneva 66-65.

“Hilbert is really a formidable opponent,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “They’ve won or been at the top of their conference every year and we gave them a battle.

“You’re not happy with a loss but I am pleased with the way we battled against a much more experienced team. We were down by five in the last minute and pressed them.”

The transfer from Lake Erie College scored 10 of his 16 in the second half but the Golden Tornadoes still fell short. Adamczyk’s former high school teammate Chaese Vaudrin, now a sophomore, led Geneva and tied for game-high with 19 points and junior Nick Shelton (Hubbard, OH/Hubbard) added 15.

Geneva will continue its season Tuesday at Carnegie-Mellon University at 7:30.
