Bethany, WV - Geneva’s Zach Lehman (freshman, Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) scored the only goal of the game in the 24th minute in the first half and that turned out to be all Geneva needed to win its season finale and qualify for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference playoffs.

“We played very efficiently and passed the ball well,” said head coach Gary Dunda. “It feels good to qualify for the postseason and we’re looking forward to it.”

The win improved Geneva’s record to 10-5-3 overall and 5-2-1 in conference action while Bethany fell to 2-15, 1-7.

The win moved Geneva into a third-place tie with Waynesburg and knocked archrival Westminster from a playoff spot. Since Waynesburg defeated Geneva in head to head action, the Yellow Jackets get the third seed.

Geneva will now visit top-seeded Thomas More Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Saints’ only blemish on its conference record was a 0-0 tie at Geneva on October 9.

“Thomas More is a very good team and we played very well against them,” said Dunda. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
