Six Golden Tornadoes named to PAC volleyball all-conference teams release

Beaver Falls, PA– The Presidents’ Athletic Conference announced its all-conference volleyball teams today in which five Golden Tornadoes were recognized for their hard work and success this season.

Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton), Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) and Erin Smith (Sewickley, PA/Ambridge) were all selected as the All-PAC First Team. Freshman outside hitter, Hughes, lead Geneva’s offense with 393 kills, hitting 3.82 kills per set. Junior setter and outside hitter, Netherland, contributed in every aspect of the game. She racked up 843 assists while also earning 101 kills, 54 digs, 38 serving aces, and 51 blocks. Senior middle blocker, Smith, was the keystone of Geneva’s block with 98. In addition she tallied up 180 kills.

Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) and Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) were selected on the All-PAC second team. Napes wasted no time getting to know Geneva’s court as a first year Golden Tornado, seeing 107 sets. Naples stands with 151 kills, 260 assists, 19 serving aces and 51 blocks. Test ends her second season facing conference foes with 255 kills and 62 blocks.

Defensive Specialist, Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) honorable mentioned for her work; 356 digs and 41 aces from the service line.

Geneva continues its’ season tomorrow Wednesday November 12 at home in the ECAC South Region Quarterfinals at 7 p.m. hosting Penn State Altoona.
