Pittsburgh, PA - Outrebounded by more than a 2-1 margin (61-30), Geneva could find no way to make up for Carnegie Mellon’s significant height advantage and fell 88-39. The Tartans took advantage from the start and built a 49-21 lead by halftime. Geneva falls to 1-2 on the season.

“They were just huge,” said Geneva coach Lori Wynn. “They were all bigger than Any of our players and that was basically the story.

“We got better but couldn’t make up for their size.”

Geneva was led by junior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy), who scored 20 points after consecutive games of 18. Freshman point guard Lydia Songer (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland), Geneva’s tallest player at 5-10, had nine points on three three-pointers. CMU had five players score in double figures, led by Lisa Murphy with 20.

The Golden Tornadoes return to action Tuesday night at 6:00 at Penn State-Beaver.
