Beaver Falls, PA – With three minutes left, Geneva led visiting Houghton 49-44 when junior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) connected on a layup.

Unfortunately for Geneva fans, that was the Golden Tornadoes’ final field goal of the game as Houghton outscored the home team 9-1 the rest of the way and grabbed the win, 53-50. In those final three minutes, Geneva missed four shots and committed two turnovers after holding the lead for much of the first half and the whole second half.

Geneva, now 1-4, was led by sophomore Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union), who had a career high 20 points. Mann had her first double/double of the season as she had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Golden Tornadoes return to action Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., hosting Thiel in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference opener.
