Bethany, WV– The Geneva Cross Country teams competed in the PAC Championships at Bethany today. The women’s program finished in fifth place with 137 points, the men finished seventh with 175 points.

“Seven of our eight women ran their fastest times of the season today, so we clearly gave our best at the biggest meet of the year! We have nothing to hang our heads about,” said head coach Brian Yowler.

“Being three points out of third place shows us that we are very close to competing with the top teams in the PAC. It'll certainly motivate our off-season training.”

Freshman Havilah Gaugler (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) led the Geneva women, claiming All-PAC Honorable Mention at 15th place. Gaugler is Geneva’s second freshman ever to be all-conference in the women’s cross country program.

In men’s action, finishing seventh, head coach Brian Yowler commented, “We are excited that we moved up two places as a team this year. We are heading in the right direction.”

“Under the leadership of senior captain Glenn Wargo (Grove City, PA/Home School), our team has come together very well.”

Freshman Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport ) finished in 20th place claiming all-PAC Honorable Mention honors. Smith is Geneva’s third runner to have the all-conference title as a freshman.
