Geneva men battle hard but come up short, lose at St. Vincent 72-63

Geneva men's basketball

Latrobe, PA – The Robert Carey Center at St. Vincent has been a house of horrors for the Geneva College men’s basketball team. On their trip in last year, the Golden Tornadoes lost by 15, but the score really didn’t indicate the game.

This year, though, things were different. At halftime, the teams were tied at 28 and five minutes into the second half, Geneva led 40-39. Just three minutes later, however, St. Vincent had a commanding 52-41 lead, and the Bearcats held on for a 72-63 win.

“We battled hard but one bad three minute stretch in the second half cost us,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We fought back, cut the gap to five but couldn’t get over the hump.

“I’m really proud of the way we played on the road. It’s been a while since we played this well at St. Vincent.”

Geneva was led by senior Tyler Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) with 17 points. Junior Jordan Lawrence (Columbia, MD/Chapelgate) added 13 and sophomore Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had three.
