ALTOONA, PA - The Geneva men missed nine of their first 11 free throws but hit three of the last four to preserve a 64-61 win over Penn State-Altoona. The win improved Geneva’s record to 5-8 overall.

The game was tight throughout with the Golden Tornadoes leading by just one at the half and neither team achieving a double-digit lead.

“Sometimes there just aren’t enough adjectives to describe shooting like that,” laughed Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We just didn’t play well and it was an ugly game but sometimes you just have to play through it and get ready for the next one.

“At least we got the win.”

Geneva was led by a pair of underclassmen with 17 points - junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) and freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville). Senior Jacob Jaros (Levittsburg, OH/LaBrae) added 10 points.

Geneva will host its first Presidents’ Athletic Conference game of 2015 Wednesday, against Washington & Jefferson at 7:30 p.m.
