FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY

Geneva scored first to take a 2-0 lead, but that was its only lead of the game as the long trip to Kentucky ended in defeat. Thomas More, now 10-5 and 5-1 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play, made the Golden Tornadoes pay for practically every mistake, converting 16 turnovers into 25 points.

“We just didn’t give the effort we needed to win,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “We didn’t defend the way we need to and we have to get back to that.”

Geneva did have the advantage of balanced scoring, with four players in double figures. The Golden Tornadoes were led by senior Tyler Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) with 13 points, while senior Jacob Jaros (Levittsburg, OH/LaBrae) and freshman Anthony Carthen (Washington, DC/McKinley Tech) each had 11, and sophomore Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had 10 points and seven assists.

Geneva, now 6-9 and 3-3 will return to Pennsylvania for its next PAC game, Saturday at Westminster at 7:30.
