GREENVILLE, PA - Geneva built a 10-point halftime lead and extended it to 13 in the second half, 41-28, but Thiel responded with the next 15 points to take the lead. Although the Golden Tornadoes were able to tie the game again at 43-43, Thiel scored the next six points and Geneva couldn’t get any closer.

Geneva’s leading scorer junior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) was held scoreless in the second half, finishing with eight points. Geneva scored just 22 points in the second half.

“In the second half, they changed their defense, we started settling for some three-point shots and went cold,” said Geneva coach Lori Wynn. “In the first half, we played well defensively, got some good looks, and did some very good things.

“In the second half, we just went cold.”

Geneva was led by 20 points by sophomore Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) and freshman Lydia Songer (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) added 14 points.

Geneva, now 4-13 and 2-8 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play, will next play at Bethany Wednesday at 6 p.m.
