Dr. Kickasola to speak on film, religion and culture

Geneva College welcomes Baylor University’s Dr. Joe Kickasola on Thursday, February 19 at 7 p.m. and on Friday, February 20 at 10:10 a.m. His presentations on the topics of religion and film and religion and culture will be in Skye Lounge of the Student Center.

Dr. Kickasola is highly involved in matters of film theory, media and culture, religion and film, and film 

He is the Director of the Baylor Communication in New York program, in which students have the chance to study abroad, intern and learn the skills necessary for working in leading communication companies.production.

He is also an accomplished author. His works include the book The Films of Krzysztof Kieslowski: The Liminal Image and several articles in such publications as the Quarterly Review of Film and Video and the Journal of Moving Image Studies. Dr. Kickasola is also working on anthologies that discuss the portrayal of religion, metaphysics and epistemology in the world of film. 

Dr. Kickasola is an alumnus of Covenant College and Regent University, where he has degrees in music and communication, respectively.

Both of Dr. Kickasola’s presentations are free and open to the public. Funding for this event is made possible by the Iva E. Patterson and Dale W. Gilmore Visiting Artist and Lecture Series endowed by Paul H. Gilmore ’31.
