BEAVER FALLS, PA - After coming from seven back Wednesday to defeat W&J, Geneva came from 10 back to defeat Grove City at home in overtime, 83-81.

Geneva sophomore Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) drove the lane and scored with one second left to give Geneva the win after the Golden Tornadoes surrendered a six-point lead in overtime. Vaudrin finished with 17 points.

Freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) had opened the extra-time with a three-pointer and later added a pair of free throws as the Golden Tornadoes never trailed. He finished with 13 points.

“Jimmy played great, he’s having a great freshman year,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “Chaese’s shot was huge, he just did what he likes to do. We didn’t draw anything up, we just let him go.”

Senior Tyler Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) scored four of his 11 points in the extra frame.

Junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) was the spark in the second half, giving Geneva the lead in the opening minute of the second half and the lead reached as high as six before a late Grove City comeback. He scored a season-high 25 points in the win –tying Leichliter’s last game performance as the most points by a Geneva player this year - as Geneva improved to 9-13 and 6-7 in conference play.

“It was a great win,” Santarsiero said. “It was a great college basketball game in a great rivalry and somebody had to win.

“I’m proud of the way we responded in the second half.”

Geneva will return to action Wednesday, hosting Thomas More at 7:30 p.m.
