BEAVER FALLS, PA - Geneva made 16 of 24 field goal attempts in the second half to break open a close game and rolled to an 86-75 win over Thomas More, which had been 15-7.

The first half had been back and forth even though Geneva made 17 of 30 field goal attempts (56.7%) – the game had five lead changes and was the score was tied six times. Thomas More scored first in the second half to give the Saints the lead but an NBA range jumper by junior Jordan Lawrence (Columbia, MD/Chapelgate) gave Geneva the lead for good. The Golden Tornadoes improved their overall record to 10-13, 7-7 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play.

Junior Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) led Geneva with 24 points (after scoring 25 against Grove City) and had nine rebounds and seven assists. Senior Tyler Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) added as season-high 17 points and added nine rebounds while freshman Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) added 14.

“This team is getting better and they realize that the mistakes they were making are correctable,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “They’ve done that and they realize they can be a good team, one of the top teams in the conference.”

“We’re playing really well at home now and I’m really proud of the way we executed. Thomas More is a good team and made six or seven runs at us but we did what we needed to do.”

“It was a great win and now we’ll enjoy a weekend off to heal and rest.”

Geneva will have a week off before returning to action Wednesday at Waynesburg at 7:30 p.m.
