Geneva’s Josh Guiser Named PAC SAAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month

Beaver Falls, PA – Josh Guiser (Newell, PA / Frazier) was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) male scholar-athlete of the month for January 2015. Every month, the PAC selects one male and female out of the league who fulfills the mission of SAAC; The NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) strives to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity for all student-athletes; protecting student- athlete well-being; and fostering a positive student-athlete image, while maintaining the tenants of the Division III philosophy (http://www.ncaa.org/governance/committees/division-iii-saac).

As a dual senior student-athlete (football & track), Guiser was nominated by Geneva College and selected by the PAC for his work during the indoor track season, involvement on campus and in the community as well as his dedication to excellence in the classroom.

On the track he set Geneva records in the 60 meters (7.09), 200 meters (22.67), and was a member of the 4x200 meter relay (1:33.81) in indoor season of 2014.

In the 2015 Indoor Track Season, Guiser has finished first or second in the 60 meter dash in four competitions. During football season, he set the Geneva career record for kickoff return yardage this season and finished his career with over 120 receptions for over 1300 yards.

Off the track and football field, Guiser is involved in a number of organizations. He is the president of two; Geneva’s Accounting Club and Golden Tornado Outreach (GTO). He is active with in the Business Club and serves on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team at Geneva.

He is a member of Delta Mu Delta, a business honor society, and serves as the treasurer for Geneva's Becker CPA Review organization. He also serves as the site coordinator for Geneva's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), a program designed to provide aid for any families with basic returns and aimed at those with low income and the elderly within the Beaver Falls community (http://pacathletics.org/sports/2015/2/10/pac-saac-jan15.aspx).

In the classroom, Guiser obtains a 3.9025 GPA while majoring in accounting and business.

Track and Field Head Coach Phil Thompson commented, “Josh puts in a ton of work on the track and in the classroom and it shows. What Josh has accomplished on the track is no easy task, but to maintain a 3.9 GPA at the same time is amazing. I am very proud of his accomplishments in his athletics and academics and I have no doubt that he will have a successful career after college. Josh is the definition of a student-athlete.”
