Softball Preseason Poll Predicts Geneva Finishing Second in PAC

Beaver Falls, PA – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason poll was released Friday afternoon predicting the Golden Tornadoes to finish second in the league this season.

“Pre-season polls are worth as much as the paper they are written on,” said Head coach Van Zanic.

“We have built a standard of excellence in our program that we try to uphold each and every year. We are excited for the season and understand that one season’s success means nothing the following year. Hopefully we can reach that standard of excellence and once again be in competition for a conference championship.”

The Golden Tornadoes finished the 2014 spring season 23-16 overall, 15-3 in the PAC, and as the 2014 PAC Championship Finalists.

The conference highlighted three returns and a transfer as players to watch for the upcoming season; first baseman Laura Beck (Canfield, OH / Canfield), outfielder Dayna Hicks (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk), pitcher Samantha Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional), and WCCC transfer infielder Whitney Thompson (Mt. Pleasant, PA / Mt. Pleasant).

Geneva starts its season on Monday, March 9 at 1 p.m. against Wilmington College at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Florida.
