Geneva College celebrates the accomplishments of student newspaper The Geneva Cabinet, which recently won eight Keystone Press awards for work published in 2014. The Keystone awards recognize quality and talent in student publications in the state of Pennsylvania. Geneva competed in Division II, which is for four-year colleges and universities with enrollment under 10,000.

“These awards are important because they support the students with an outsider, news professional perspective,” said Dr. Daniel Williams, Professor of English and faculty advisor for The Cabinet. “Though the staffers are deeply appreciated here, it's encouraging for them to know that they're not only good at home, but also in the eyes of the wider world. The awards stand as evidence that the staffers are learning skills in The Cabinet that will serve them very well beyond graduation.”

With eight awards, Geneva tied with Slippery Rock University for most student publication awards.

Institutions that were represented include Allegheny College, Duquesne University, Waynesburg University, Point Park University, Robert Morris University and others.
