Fort Pierce, FL – Geneva baseball finished its 10-game spring break trip with a 6-3, 4-3 sweep over Western Connecticut State. The pair of wins raises Geneva’s overall record to 6-4 as they return to campus.

Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) helped Geneva from the mound striking out nine batters, allowing no earned runs, and only allowed four hits and a walk. The win lifts Parker’s pitching record to a stainless 3-0.

“Jeff pitched a great game in game one today and we responded with a strong offensive game,” explained Head Coach Alan Sumner.

The Golden Tornadoes scored two runs in both the third and sixth innings of the opener.

Shane Wingard’s (Clarksburg, PA/Apollo Ridge) sacrifice fly in the second inning gave Geneva the lead that the Golden Tornadoes would maintain for the victory.

In the sixth inning Andy Santana (San Pedro de Marcoris, DR/Desert Christian) had a RBI double that brought home Forrest Beighley (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk), a repeated scene from Santana’s single hit in the third inning.

“In game two we were shut down until the fifth inning when we tied it three runs," Sumner said. "Finally in the ninth inning, we did a good job of getting a runner in scoring position and Andy singled him home.”

In the circle, Caleb Metzler (Lititz, PA/Warwick) pitched two no run innings.

Saturday, March 21 the Golden Tornadoes will hit the road again, this time to Houghton (NY) for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
