Fort Pierce, FL – Geneva defeated Alfred State 3-1 followed by another winning performance against Manchester University in a 4-2 final. The pair of wins raises Geneva’s overall record to 7-5 after playing 12 games in eight days.

“We had our most complete games on the trip,” said Head Coach Van Zanic, “Catching the ball and getting hits helps – not to simplify it too much but we did get key hits today.”

Down one run in the sixth inning, Geneva tied the score as Laura Beck (Canfield, OH / Canfield) scored on a bases loaded walk and a single by Hannah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA / Avonworth) scored Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA / Mohawk). A single by Clara Sevy (Sykesville, MD / Chapelgate Christian) scored the final run.

Against Manchester University, two run rallies in the fifth and sixth innings gave Geneva the comeback win. A single by Sevy scored Taylor Yarletts (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) with the first run and a single to right field. Megan Davis (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) scored on a throw to tie and her sixth inning single scored Yarletts for the win. Sam Johnson (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) recorded the win after getting a save in the opener.

“It is nice to get out of two with a pair of wins," Zanic said. “Now the games start to matter.”
