The men’s club rugby team recently competed in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Regional Rugby Tournament at Grove City College, taking second place behind Susquehanna University.

NSCRO is a championship system for Division 3 and Division 4 men’s and women’s rugby teams. Geneva competes in the organization's Three Rivers Collegiate Rugby Conference with 14 other teams.

At the Grove City tournament, the Geneva men competed in a pool of 10 teams, including Fairmont State University, Grove City College and Allegheny College. The team ultimately rose up to take second place, a step up from last year.

Rugby Club President senior Daniel Glasstetter III, says he is proud of how the team performed at the tournament. “Throughout the day each player stepped up and played their hardest until they had nothing left in the tank. I am proud of how each person played, but I am more impressed of how we all gelled together as a team. We did not have much time to train for this style of play prior to the tournament - but the communication, team effort and perseverance was present all day long.”

The Geneva Men’s 2014-2015 Rugby Club team includes Glasstetter; seniors Dana Phlegar, Chris Tyson, Mike Vesey and Tyler Harbison; juniors Josh Bechtold, Mike Brown, Nate Dunn, Zack Good and Ryan Kaufman; and sophomores John Abarca and Brendan Byham.
