Mens VolleyballGeneva College’s men’s club volleyball team recently won ninth place at the 2015 National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) Championships in Kansas City, KS.

The NCVF promotes and organizes competitions for men’s and women’s club volleyball teams across the country and is the only American-based organization that offers competitions for college club volleyball year round. Geneva competed in the NCVF’s Division AAA with 23 other schools.

“Nationals was big for Geneva and definitely for the club,” says Junior Jake Norton, the men’s volleyball club president. “We got to compete with very large schools and had a blast getting the school name out there. We ran into some familiar schools we have played earlier this year such as Messiah, Grove City and IUP.”

The team was beaten in the first round by the University of Idaho, but in two days came back to win against them in the elimination bracket, taking ninth place in the championship overall.

“We have a better understanding of the reasons why we formed this club thanks to Nationals,” says Norton. “We plan to take that mindset into next year and hopefully we can accomplish even more.”

The 2015-2016 men’s club volleyball team includes Norton as President, senior Daniel Martin as Secretary and junior Andrew Wilson as Treasurer; seniors Matt Kennedy, Jay Beiler, Isaac Adamiak and Alexander Rosenbaum; juniors Davis Streit, Daniel Cox and Jared Baronner; sophomores Evan Shaw and Neil Harrison; and freshmen Elliot Spear, Corban Esbenshade, Ethan Stahl, Will Townsend, Gibson McCracken, Noah Ashleigh and Ethan Huston.
