Geneva’s three run first inning carries baseball team to sweep over Bethany; 9-1, 3-0

Beaver Falls, PA – Neither Geneva nor the visiting Bethany Bison had appeared in the win column since Monday March 30. This afternoon, Geneva’s three run first inning of game two carried the Golden Tornadoes to a sweep over Bethany after an explosive 9-1 game one win. The sweep raises Geneva’s overall record to 10-15, 4-9 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

Tyler Pagaduan (Voorhess, NJ/Eastern Regional) went a perfect 4-for-4. He doubled in the second, singled in the first, fourth and sixth in the first game.
 
Zach Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) raised his pitching record to 3-1 after seven innings of work in the opener. Ackerman allowed only one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters.
 

An rbi single by Aaron Witman (Greencastle, PA/Shalom Christian Academy) big inning in the second game, followed by an rbi single by Donnie Tong (Columbus, OH/Tree of Life Christian) and JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian).
 
Josh Glover (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) earned the win allowing four hits, four walks and striking out four in over six innings plus of work. Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) closed the game with the final two outs.
 
Head Coach Alan Sumner said, “It was nice to put all aspects of the game together today.”
 
“We got great pitching out of Zach, Josh and Jeff coming into close the second game.”
 
“Our offense finally came to life.”
 
Friday April 17 Geneva is at Saint Vincent in a single nine inning game starting at 4 p.m.
