Geneva baseballs early two runs do not hold up at Bethany in 10-2 loss

Bethany, WV – Baseball finished its third and final game, a single nine inning game, of its series at Bethany this afternoon. The Bethany Bison defeated the Golden Tornadoes 10-2 dropping Geneva’s overall record to 11-22, 5-16 in the league.

“Another game of too many errors,” said Head Coach Alan Sumner.

“We had our chances but we were unable to turn things around.”

Geneva took the early lead with a run in the first and second.

Tyler Pagaduan (Voorhess, NJ/Eastern Regional) started Geneva’s offense with a single and was later brought home in a rbi single by Aaron Witman (Greencastle, PA/Shalom Christian Academy).

Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph) had a 2-3 day, starting with a double to leftfield in the second. JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) batted Luciana in for the 2-0 lead.

The Golden Tornadoes held onto the lead for one more inning while surrendering a run in third but the game was never in question after the Bison racked up three more runs in the fifth.

When all was said and done Bethany outhit Geneva 14 to 10 while Geneva surrendered four errors while Bethany gave up three.

Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) was charged with the loss.

Geneva hosts Baptist Bible for two days starting Tuesday, April 28 in two non-conference back-to-back doubleheaders starting at 2 p.m. both game days. Before the start of the second game scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 the Golden Tornadoes will celebrate its’ senior class of 2015.
