Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva softball splits Westminster series winning Game 1 1-0 and losing the second game in the nineth inning 4-2.

Taylor Yarlett’s (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) RBI single sending Laura Innocenzi (Cortland, OH / Lakeview) home in the bottom of the second would be the only run scored of the game giving the win to Samantha Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) who threw six strike outs on the afternoon.

In the second game, the GTs would battle back in game two bottom of the sixth when both Senior Andrea Hinds (Montrose, PA / Montrose) and Freshman Megan Davis (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) would hit single RBIs to tie the game up 2-2 to force extra innings. Unfortunately it was not enough of a momentum swing as Westminster would retake the lead 4-2 in the top of the ninth to end the Tornadoes season.

“I was really proud of the way the girls battled today. Two really good games with two really good teams. It wasn’t how we wanted to finish the season and it wasn’t what we are used to with this program but we are a really young team and they played really well today.” said Coach Van Zanic

Geneva softball ends the season at a perfect .500 going 19-19 overall and 9-9 in the PAC.
