Crestview Hills, KY – The Golden Tornadoes continued their road trip from Bethany West Virginia to Kentucky to face Thomas More Wednesday afternoon. Geneva dropped game one 5-0 and fought back in a 6-4 win for the split. Now 15-16 overall, 5-6 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, Geneva will continue to play on the road of Friday at Grove City (5 p.m.) and finish the week at home against Chatham (1 p.m.).

Game one was never in doubt for the Saints after scoring two runs in the third. They sealed the win raising the score to 5-0 in the fifth.

Laura Innocenzi (Cortland, OH / Lakeview) turned things around for Geneva leading them to a win in game two. Innocenzi’s double to right field brought home Andy Hinds (Montrose, PA / Montrose) for the one run advantage.

Geneva extended its 1-0 lead to 6-0 in the fifth off a single rbi by Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA / Mohawk). Megan Davis (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) hit a four run homer that would keep Geneva ahead of Thomas More.

Thomas More answered with three runs in the fifth and a run in the bottom of the seventh. Samantha Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) ended the game with a striking out the Saint batter swinging.

Andy Hinds was on the right side of the decision for the win.

Head Coach Van Zanic commented, “If you are going to win one out of four on a road trip it’s good to win the last one.”

“We pitched well enough this week to have better results but we finally got a big hit and it came from a freshman who is having a special year. We kept ourselves in the mix but we have a lot of work to do.”
