Greenville, PA – Geneva dropped a 5-3 final in game one at Thiel despite earning the lead in the top of the sixth. Game two extended into ten innings as Geneva and Thiel battled for the victory. The 28 hit game (Geneva 13, Thiel 15) handed Geneva a 4-3 loss. The Tomcats sweep over the Golden Tornadoes lowers their overall record to 18-18, 8-8 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

In game one Thiel gained the lead with one run in the first and third. Geneva closed the gap in the fifth, trailing 2-1 entering the sixth. Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) two rbi double hit to right field brought home Taylor Yarletts (Wampum, PA / Mohawk) and Dayna Hicks (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) for the 3-2 edge over the Tomcats. Despite efforts, Thiel rallied in the bottom of the inning for three runs that would prove to earn the win at the end of the seven. Samantha Johnson (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) was charged with the loss.

Opening game two the Golden Tornadoes took the lead with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for the 3-1 advantage. What looked like a classic split night cap turned into a long extra inning game after the Golden Tornadoes surrendered a run in the sixth and seventh tying the game at three runs apiece. The 4-3 heartbreaking loss handed Johnson another loss at the mound after three and half innings of work walking none, striking out none and allowing only one run.

On Saturday, April 25 the Golden Tornadoes will host Westminster for their senior game at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
