The Wednesday, May 27 edition of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show includes top news headlines as well as several in-depth stories on pertinent topics to our nation and the world. Today’s top stories include trouble with Iraqi relations and devastating storms in southeast Texas. The weekly “White House Wednesday” segment details announcements from more GOP presidential candidates. Also included this week: “The story behind the story: Ireland’s vote to embrace same-sex marriage”.
Several current news stories such as the Iranian closed-door trial of American reporter Jason Rezaian and the rise of American tourism to Cuba have also been included in the program. In business news, WORLD reports U.S. stocks falling yesterday after a week of close-to-record highs.
In the “White House Wednesday” portion of the program, WORLD Radio’s chief political correspondent Kent Covington discusses Rick Santorum’s presidential race announcement. He also details several other candidates’ announcements, stating, “This Republican field right now is like trying to fit a football team into an elevator.”
The program also includes a discussion of Ireland’s popular vote to legalize same-sex marriage and the pressure that opposition felt from American corporations. The program ends with a comment from Grove City College’s Paul Kengor on the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decision on the same subject.
