Adult Degree Programs Now Even More Flexible and Affordable

Actuarial Science

For over 25 years, Geneva College’s Adult Degree Programs has offered busy adults a flexible and affordable means to complete a high quality, Christ-centered bachelor’s degree. One of the first colleges in its region to offer this type of program, Geneva has remained at the forefront of higher education for adults, recently adding fully online majors in addition to convenient classroom locations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.

Now, Geneva’s Adult Degree Programs is even more flexible and affordable than before. Changes to the program reducing the overall number of credits required enable students to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in even less time, drastically reducing the overall cost of tuition. The program now only requires three terms instead of four, so full-time students can graduate in as little as 16 months while still enjoying Christmas and summer breaks.

Also, a new merit-based “Step Forward Scholarship” is available to Adult Degree Programs students who transfer and maintain a 3.25 grade point average. Qualifying full-time students are awarded $1,000 per semester, up to a maximum of $3,000. The amount is pro-rated per credit for those attending less than full-time.

“We want to do everything possible to help adults advance their education and careers and finish strong,” explains John Gallo, Dean of Graduate, Adult and Online Programs. “The changes we’ve made address the affordability issue faced by many adult students.”

Adult Degree Programs students can choose from the following majors and delivery formats: Child and Family Services (online), Management (online), Organizational Leadership (classroom and online), Human Resources (classroom and online), Human Services (classroom), and Christian Ministry Leadership (classroom).

The new Adult Degree Programs format also offers students maximum flexibility in scheduling. Full-time students take four classes each semester, fall and spring, enrolling in two classes a week for eight-week terms. For majors that offer both formats, they can choose to attend both courses in a classroom setting, both in a fully online format, or one classroom and one fully online course.

Part-time students may take one class every eight weeks, which is two classes per semester, in either a classroom or fully online format.

An optional summer session is also available, offering a number of core and elective courses.

The Adult Degree Programs has also added options to minor in different areas so that students can tailor their educational experience to their strengths and interests, building credentials to help advance their careers.

The changes to the program take effect with the term beginning August 24, 2015. However, students currently enrolled in the Adult Degree Programs may choose to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies under the new 120-credit format, or the degree for which they enrolled under the original 126-credit format.

Nearly 95% of students receive some form of financial aid, including grants, scholarships and loans.

In addition to timely completion, Geneva students benefit from an impressive graduation rate, consistently above the average for similar programs.
