The Wednesday, August 5, 2015 episode of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show contains today’s news and a political discussion about the current state of the 2016 race to the White House, plus a highlight on the south region finalist for WORLD’s 2015 Hope Award for Effective Compassion.
In Wednesday news, WORLD reports on two former U.S. ambassadors’ testimony to a Senate panel on the Iran nuclear deal, the continuing fight over Planned Parenthood despite the Senate’s failure to strip taxpayer money from the group and a massive wildfire in northern California’s Lake County.
In the weekly White House Wednesday portion of the program, WORLD Radio’s chief political correspondent Kent Covington reports on the upcoming Republican candidate debate on Fox news, as well as new Clinton campaign commercials and rumors of a Joe Biden run for president.
To close the program WORLD special correspondent Susan Olasky highlights southern region finalist for WORLD’s 2015 Hope Award for Effective Compassion, a pregnancy center called Heartbeat of Miami. Heartbeat of Miami is a women’s pregnancy health center that resides in a building that used to be an abortion clinic. Now, the organization provides ultrasounds for pregnant women, what Olasky calls their “secret weapon.” A very high percentage of women considering abortions who have an ultrasound and hear the heartbeat of their baby elect to keep their child.
