Geneva men’s soccer opens home season with 2-1 win

gt m soccerBeaver Falls, PA- Lightning delayed the game in the first half but the Geneva College men’s soccer team overcame the distraction to win its second straight come-from-behind win, defeating Marietta 2-1 at Geneva’s Merriman Athletic Complex.

“The break hurt us,” said Geneva head coach Gary Dunda. “But afterwards, we were able to get back into our game and played well.

“It was an exciting win.”

Geneva trailed 1-0 at halftime but tied the score on a goal by freshman Nate Ferraco (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills), his second of the young season.

Senior Sean Bernardi (Butler) connected with the game winner on a penalty kick in the game’s final minutes.

Geneva, now 2-0, will play Methodist at home tomorrow (Saturday) at 4 p.m.
