Women’s Tennis opens season in fashion; defeats Bethany 8-1

Bethany, WV- Head coach Mandee Craft and the Golden Tornadoes opened their season on the road at Bethany College earning their first win of the 2015 season; 8-1.

“This was a great way to start off our season,” said Craft. “The team’s been practicing hard and it showed in our play today from top to bottom.”

Geneva defeated the Bison in second through sixth seeds in singles.

Junior Elizabeth Stewart (Rochester, PA/Rochester) defeated Bison Sarah Thrall is a seamless 6-0, 6-0 second seed singles performance.

Junior Megan Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) also had a perfect match in the fourth singles slot.

All three Geneva doubles opened the season with a ‘W.’

Elizabeth Stewart (Rochester, PA/Rochester) and Katherin Keitrick (Beaver, PA/Beaver) earned the first seed doubles win 8-4, Sara Stoll (Norwalk, OH/Norwalk) and Samantha Jensen (Muskegon, MI/Mona Shores) paired together in an 8-1 final, Hinds and Hilary Kinney (Limington, ME/Bonny Eagle) won the third seed doubles 8-0.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Ursuline Wednesday, September 9 for their next match starting at 4 p.m.
