New Wilmington, PA – The Geneva women’s cross country team finished sixth at Westminster Friday evening before the weather brought lightning delays. The lightning would later cause the men’s race to be canceled.

Sophomore Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) finished in 13th place (25:01.43) out of the 99 women runners.

Amy Pinson (Colorado Springs, CO/Homeschool) finished 22nd (25:47.37) while Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) finished 25th (26:11.70).

“Our women got their feet wet at the 6K distance tonight,” said head coach Brian Yowler. “I was very pleased with how they raced.”

“Our top three runners improved by more than a minute from their time here last year!”

“Madelyn Blosser has solidified herself in the top spot and Sophomore Amy Pinson continues to show off her summer training by taking over the number two spot.”

“Unfortunately, we are still without last year's number one, Havilah Gaugler (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) and freshmen Hannah Mansell (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin). We look to get both of them back in the next few weeks.”

Geneva will take a week long break before returning Saturday, September 19 at Big Spring High School’s Invitational (Newville, PA).
