Our Town Provides an Opportunity to Serve

Geneva Seal

The Center for Student Engagement (CSE) will hold the fall 2015 Our Town event on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is a day of service in the Beaver Falls community that is conducted by Geneva students each semester.

Our Town organizes Geneva students to volunteer for a morning at various local projects. This year, students will work at Providence Care Center, the 1611 Center, the community garden, Spaces-in-Between, Tiger Pause, The City of Beaver Falls, the Beaver Falls Library and some local businesses.

Missy Nyeholt, Service Learning Coordinator, urges students to take advantage of the opportunity to serve. “Our Town provides an opportunity for students to serve their neighbors. It’s also a great opportunity to connect with friends and give back to the community,” said Nyeholt. “Our Town is an opportunity to invest in the place that we live and get to know the organizations that are working to make this a great place to be!”

Students can sign up individually or as part of a group in the CSE, located below the Brig in the Student Center. Participants are to meet in the Brig on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Oram’s Donuts will be provided, as well as lunch after the service projects.

For more information on Our Town or other service learning opportunities at Geneva College, contact Nyeholt at mnyeholt@geneva.edu or 724-847-6816.
