The Wednesday, October 7, 2015 episode of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show talks about the Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio campaigns. The program also features an interview with Nichole Nordeman about her new EP.

In today’s top news, the rain has stopped in South Carolina after days of intense storms and flash flooding. The danger has not ended, however. Floodwaters are still persistent as they flow into lowlands. Flooding has caused the breaching of over a dozen dams. The state has a plan to deal with the water, but urges citizens to remain cautious.

The United States Department of Justice is investigating an airstrike that hit a hospital in Afghanistan. The U.S. strike hit a Doctors Without Borders hospital, killing 22 people. The attack was said to be a mistake by the Afghani military. This is the fourth investigation into the matter.

In other news, Russian president Vladimir Putin said that the Russian invasion of Turkish airspace was an accident. Turkey is not convinced and is requesting NATO’s help in the situation. Russia is fighting Syrian rebels along the Turkish border.

California became the fifth state to legalize assisted suicide this week. In order for a patient to request assisted suicide they must have two separate medical opinions that say they only have six months to live, be able to physically take medicine and have the mental ability to make the decision themselves.

In the White House Wednesday portion of the show, WORLD reports on the Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio campaigns. Clinton is on the offensive after months of lying low in the wake of the email scandal. She is campaigning across the nation speaking about social issues such as gun control and Planned Parenthood. Clinton also appeared on Saturday Night Live. That program was criticized for being tailored for Clinton’s positive press.

In Marco Rubio’s campaign, WORLD reports on the different approach he has taken to the typical campaign. He is currently laying the groundwork for the latter stages of a campaign by focusing on investors rather than early states. Rubio is also running a frugal campaign. Examples of this are Rubio flying coach and having a lean staff. His campaign is focusing on putting money into aspects that provide large return on investment.

WORLD speaks to contemporary Christian music artist Nichole Nordeman about her decade long hiatus and her new EP, The Unmaking. Her break was due to having trouble balancing her roles as an artist and a mother. WORLD highlights the songs “Slow Down” and “The Unmaking.”
