Volleyball begins last regular season week in style; 3-0 at Thiel

Greenville, PA Geneva volleyball entered their last week of the regular season with four conference games on the schedule. The Golden Tornadoes opened the week of competition in a three set match (25-15, 25-18, 25-13) at Thiel Tuesday evening. The win raises Geneva’s overall record to 24-6, 13-2 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Geneva’s offense tallied 33 kills led by senior outside hitter Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) with nine kills and sophomore outside hitter Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) with seven.

The setting responsibilities were split between Netherland and sophomore middle Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) - Netherland with 17, Naples with 10.

Geneva’s main source of attack came from the service line featuring three Golden Tornadoes who each earned four service aces; Rachel Tuck (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary School), Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) and Sydney McNulty (State College, PA/State College Area).

Dickson also led Geneva’s defense with 22 digs and, around the net, the Golden Tornadoes earned eight team blocks.

Wednesday, October 28 the Golden Tornadoes are back at home to host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m.
