Geneva College joins #GivingTuesday this year. The social media event, which is scheduled for the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year, takes place on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
#GivingTuesday is a time to embrace the spirit of giving using the power of social media to create a national movement. Coming on the heels of the retail spree that is Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to give back.
Jolynn Frey, Director of Development, said, ”Geneva College has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. By giving to Geneva, where lives are transformed in the classroom and the truth of the gospel is paramount, the gifts are multiplied as students go out into the world to serve in their workplaces, communities and churches. These gifts aren’t changing one person’s life for a day. Gifts to support Geneva students multiply as they go out to serve the world.”
Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday seeks to inspire people, nonprofits, corporations and businesses alike to give back to their communities to inspire local change. It provides a platform for generosity to provide solutions to local challenges. Since the event’s inception, there has been a 470% increase in online donations on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The event engages over 30,000 organizations worldwide
