Beaver Falls, PA –The Geneva men’s basketball team’s first game in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament didn’t go the way the Golden Tornadoes had hoped, falling to Eastern 96-73. The Golden Tornadoes are now 0-3.

“Eastern was a great athletic team and we didn’t get it done on defense,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “All aspects of the game tonight were poor so we have to figure it out.”

Geneva was led in scoring by the same pair who have been in double figures every game this season - junior Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had 19 points and sophomore Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) had 16. Vaudrin also led the team with nine rebounds.

The Golden Tornadoes did have one bright spot as last year’s leading scorer Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) had eight points in 13 minutes in his first action of the season, after off-season surgery.

Geneva (0-2) will have a quick turnaround before its next game, playing Kenyon at 3 p.m.
