Geneva men’s basketball Falls to Kenyon 83-71

Beaver Falls, PA – Cold shooting continues to plague Geneva as the Golden Tornadoes shot just 39% from the floor in falling to Kenyon 83-71 at home in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff. The Golden Tornadoes are now 0-4.

“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well, especially early,” said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. “In the second half, we made about eight runs to get the gap under four but every time we made a mistake of some sort – turnover, missed shot, something.

“We’re not playing smart at key moment, but we’re making strides.”

The one constant in the season this far has been the scoring of junior Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) and sophomore Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville). The duo has been in double figures every game with Leichliter leading the way with 25 and Vaudrin added 22. Leichliter also had 11 rebounds for Geneva’s first double-double of the year. Vaudrin was named to the all-tournament team.

Last year’s leading scorer Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) also saw his most extensive action of the season, scoring 13 points in 22 minutes. It was his second game back after off-season surgery.

“Ethan is showing signs of being the old Ethan,” Santarsiero said. “We know what we have to do and now we can put all of our energy into preparing for the first conference game.”

Geneva will indeed have time to regroup over the holiday as the Golden Tornadoes do not return to action until December 2 at Thiel in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference opener.
