Geneva Drops 80-68 Decision over Thanksgiving Weekend

Beaver Falls, PA –Geneva hosted the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg campus over Thanksgiving weekend. Geneva fell 80-68 against the Bobcats lowering the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 1-3.

Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) led the Golden Tornadoes with a double-double. The freshman guard earned 12 points, 11 rebounds.

“I like where we are going,” said head coach Lori Wynn. “We need to clean up some things but we played hard and well together. We were unselfish.”

Geneva controlled the first seven minutes of the game until Pitt-Greensburg took its first lead at 23-22 with a good three-pointer by Kelsey Oddis after Geneva committed its’ eighth turnover.

Geneva tied up the game 29-29 at 2:30 in the second quarter thanks to a good three-pointer by #20 Miranda Heaney (New Castle PA/Union).

A good three-point shot at the buzzer handed the Bobcats the halftime lead, 34-33.

In the third quarter, the Heaney twins (Miranda and Marissa) combined for back-to-back points in a good three-pointer and layup for a two point deficit 55-33.

Pitt-Greensburg opened the fourth quarter with five unanswered points until Geneva’s Heidi Mann’s (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) steal and layup with 8:10 left in the game.

Geneva opens Presidents’ Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, December 2 at Thiel.
