The Wednesday, December 2, 2015 episode of WORLD Radio’s The World and Everything in It has been posted to Geneva College’s website at http://www.geneva.edu/faith/the-world. The midweek edition of the show talks about campaign advertisements and highlights some classic Christmas songs. Joel Belz also gives his thoughts on climate change.

In today’s top news, Chicago’s top cop is unemployed. Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was asked to resign by the mayor a week after a video showing a white police officer shooting a black, knife wielding suspect 16 times. The incident occurred in October of last year, but the video only recently surfaced, leading to questions about a cover-up. The officer in question was indicted on charges of first-degree murder.

The United States will send a new commando unit to combat ISIS. The unit will work in Iraq and Syria and will perform raids with the objective of gaining better Intel about the area and the combatants.

The release of thousands of emails from Hillary Clinton’s private server has caused more trouble for the presidential candidate. Almost 400 emails were deemed classified, some having to do with the Benghazi terrorist attack.

In the White House Wednesday portion of the show, WORLD analyzes campaign advertisements, focusing on a good and bad commercial from Donald Trump. The good ad was praised for speaking directly to the voters about issues they care about, while the bad ad was criticized for its lack of focus and vain statements.

The final presidential power rankings were also discussed, with Trump continuing to hold his lead. He is followed by Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and Jeb Bush.

WORLD highlights Christmas classics “Come thou long expected Jesus” and “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The stories and inspirations behind each song are explained, as well as the meanings behind them.

WORLD founder Joel Belz speaks into the climate change issue, criticizing Barry Sander’s view and the oversimplification of statistics. He asks the listener to consider some of the good that may come from climate change rather than focusing on the overwhelming negative tone that the media takes.
