Greenville, PA – Geneva women’s basketball opened up the season’s conference play at Thiel in a 63-59 victory. The win improves Geneva’s record to 2-3, 1-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

The Golden Tornadoes started slowly, allowing the Tomcats to gain a 6-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game.

“We turned up the defense after the slow start,” said head coach Lori Wynn.

Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) acquired her third double digit scoring game this season with 17 points.

Senior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) also worked for 17 points. After five games she averages 16.2 points a game and is the fourth highest scorer in the PAC.

Mann led Geneva’s rebounding game with seven.

“Nicole played huge inside for us tonight,” said Wynn.

In addition to Nicole Hyland’s (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) success on defense, she contributed five points, six rebounds.
