Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva women’s basketball team lifted its record to 3-3, 2-0 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference and snapped an eight-year losing streak to Saint Vincent in the process.

Geneva’s 73-66 win included three Golden Tornadoes scoring in double digits, led by senior guard Heidi Mann’s (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) double-double with 11 rebounds, 20 points.

She actually needed two jerseys to claim her double-double, as she changed to #30 after her original 10 got blood on it.

“We out-rebounded them and we got stops defensively,” said head coach Lori Wynn.

“We are getting better at not panicking. We had everyone contributing.”

At 54-54 at the end of the third quarter, Geneva and Saint Vincent battled back and forth in the final frame.

A basket by Miranda Heaney (New Castle PA/Union) gave Geneva a two possession lead in the last minute of the game. She then then took a charge to give the Golden Tornadoes the ball back with 00:29.4 on the clock. Heaney finished the game with 14 points and four rebounds.

Freshman standout Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) tallied 15 points, six rebounds.

The Golden Tornadoes will be on the road at Notre Dame College of Maryland with tip-off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
