Student Activities kicks off semester with Genevan tomfoolery

Friday Night Live

Student Activities, sponsored by the Center for Student Engagement, will hold the second Friday Night Live (FNL) event on Friday, January 22 at 8 p.m. in John White Chapel.

FNL is a Saturday Night Live-style, sketch comedy show featuring jokes and scenarios tailored for the Geneva community. The show is written and performed entirely by Geneva students and faculty, with many sketches being based on famous acts and videos.

Seating will be first-come, first-served.

Cam Smith, the Student Activity Coordinator leading the event, said that the event has been in the works since before Christmas break. “Last year, FNL was written in about a week, which worked. But we wanted to give ourselves more time to create something really original and funny,” said Smith.

Last year’s show featured Geneva riffs on Jimmy Fallon’s Thank You Notes, Bill Hader’s Stefon, Whose Line is it Anyway’s  Sound Effects and the famous Will Ferrell skit “More Cowbell.”

Student Activities is the function of the Center for Student Engagement that organizes student events such as Film Fest, MGN, Café Courtyard and Mystery Bus Trip. The team focuses on create a wide range of events that will appeal to all Geneva students and all interests.
