Lacrae Concert

Geneva College welcomes two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Lecrae to campus for a concert on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The Christian hip-hop star, along with special guests Liz Vice and DJ Promote, will perform at Metheny Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Deeply discounted tickets are available through Geneva. All tickets purchased through the college cost $19, which includes all fees. Comparable tickets purchased through other venues cost $25 plus a $6 service charge.

A limited number of further-discounted tickets for $10 each are available to traditional Geneva students through the Center for Student Engagement office. In addition, because the concert takes place during Spring Break, Geneva will open all residence halls at 1 p.m. on March 12 for students attending the concert.

Geneva is one of only around 30 colleges that Lecrae will visit on his 2016 "Higher Learning Tour." In a press release for the tour, Lecrae said, "This tour allows me to be involved and inspire some of the most impactful and influential leaders of tomorrow. College is where many of the world-changing thoughts and ideas are birthed. I want my music and my message to help inspire those ideas."

Lecrae recently released his eighth studio album, Anomaly, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, as well as number one on the Digital Album, Rap Album, Christian Album and Gospel Album charts. By combining a Christian message with music that has mainstream appeal, Lecrae crosses traditional categories and genre boundaries. He has been featured in Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and Billboard Magazine, and performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and BET Network's Hip Hop Awards.

Liz Vice is known as a musician with a love for storytelling. The gospel, soul, and R&B artist has been featured in the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, Portland Soundcheck and Soul’d Out Music Festival. Her songs feature dynamic, soulful vocals with lyrics that reference her deep-rooted spirituality.

DJ Promote has been performing electronic dance music for 16 years. He says that he uses music to trigger emotions, which allows him to have a variety of people in his listening audience. DJ Promote plays music with positive themes to express his faith and offer the hope of Christ to listeners.
