Comeback Attempt Falls Short; Chatham Defeats Geneva 75-71

Pittsburgh, PA – Down 40-28 at the half, Geneva fought back but the comeback attempt fell short 75-71 at Chatham Saturday night. The loss lowers Geneva’s overall record to 1-12, 1-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

“We have to decide what kind of team we want to be,” said head coach Jeff Santarsiero.

“When we play the way we should we meet some kind of success. When we don’t, we lose! Hopefully this loss will speak volumes to this team. Ultimately it is my fault and I take full responsibility.”

Ethan Adamczyk (Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) racked up 46 points combined with 23 points apiece. Adamczyk scored six in the first half, rallying 17 points in the second while Vaudrin earned double digits each half with ten in the first, 13 in the second.

Beyond the arc, Jimmy Liechliter (Connellsville, PA/ Connellsville) sank three helping him to his 15 points. Liechliter also grabbed seven rebounds along with David Oliver (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley).

Wednesday, January 13 Geneva hits the road one more time before hosting Saturday, January 16. Wednesday the Golden Tornadoes are at Thomas More starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Geneva hosts all-time rival Westminster for the 215th game between the two schools. At the half, the Golden Tornadoes will be honoring Coach Jerry Slocum and the 1995-96 Geneva Elite 8 team during its 20th year reunion.
