Men’s Track and Field Season-Opener Provides Strong Individual Performances

Youngstown, OH – The 2016 mens’ indoor track & season has begun. Geneva’s season-opener hosted by Youngstown State University promises an exciting season for the Golden Tornadoes.

 “This was a great way to start our season,” said head coach Phil Thompson.

Sophomore Aaron Tedys (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) ran the 60 meters in 7.08 seconds, already qualifying him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) end of season meet.

Junior Cam Unrath (Wexford, PA / Pine Richland) also ran in the 60 meters in 7.12 seconds.

“We had some great performances on the track and in the field. We had some freshman really step up and compete today,” said Thompson.

Freshmen long jumper Jesse Garcia (Mechanicsville, MD / Chopticon High) reached 20.6 feet.

Freshmen Peter Taylor (Stratham, NH / Portsmouth Christian) and freshmen Dom McVay (Fredrick, MD / Walkersville High) competed in the men’s triple jump, jumping for 41.2 feet and 41.6 feet, respectively.

Saturday, January 30 the Golden Tornadoes will compete at the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open at Spire University (OH).
