Geneva Women Track & Field Open Season With New Records

Youngstown, OH – The Golden Tornadoes opened the women’s indoor track and field season breaking records at Youngstown State University Friday evening.

“This was a great way to start our season,” said head coach Phil Thompson.

 Sophomore Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) mimicked her freshman campaign’s fantastic start, breaking Geneva’s indoor hurdle school record. Bartoletta reset the record at 9.56 seconds.

Sophomore Jess Kelosky (Fombell, PA / Riverside) finished sixth in the 60 meter race with a time of 8.19 seconds.

“We had some great performances on the track and in the field. We had some freshman really step up and compete today,” said Thompson.

Freshmen Justice Newland (Lebanon, PA / Lebanon) reached 10 feet-2 inches in the pole vault.

Saturday, January 30 the Golden Tornadoes will compete at the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open at Spire University (OH).
