Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva and Westminster’s route 18 rivalry is still alive and well despite the Golden Tornadoes victory drought, being unable to upend the Titans since 2009. The losing streak came to a sudden halt in an electrifying 63-54 win over Westminster Saturday night. The triumph raises Geneva’s overall record to 7-8 overall, 4-4 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Junior Guard Miranda Heaney’s (New Castle PA/Union) 19 points led Geneva’s offense spotlighted in the last minutes of game.

“Miranda Heaney,” said head coach Lori Wynn when asked about the win. “She hit back-to-back three-pointers which sealed the deal.”

Senior Guard Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) grabbed the ball of the glass racking up 16 rebounds while earning 11 points. It was Mann’s sixth double double of the season.

“Westminster is a well-coached team, they weren't going to give the game to us,” said Wynn.

“We rebounded well but in the third quarter they went bigger and scored on us inside. In the fourth quarter, our confidence level is different this year. It's higher, we've won games like this and it shows. We're older.”

“It was big that we beat Westminster. We've been talking about beating teams that have been beating us in the past and we haven't beaten. This was another one.”

Wednesday, January 20 Geneva returns to the road, this time at Waynesburg starting at 5:30 p.m.
