Third Quarter Rally Not Enough; Women Drop 71-63 Decision at Waynesburg

Geneva

Waynesburg, PA – Geneva’s third quarter rally wasn’t enough to overcome Waynesburg’s 14-point halftime as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Golden Tornadoes 71-63. Geneva’s overall record falls to 7-9, 4-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

“We fought for it,” said head coach Lori Wynn.

“The first half we didn’t execute our game plan at all. The third quarter we were finally able to execute it.”

Geneva outscored Waynesburg 22-14 in the third quarter led by freshman Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) with eight points and senior Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) with seven.

Mann finished the game with 23 points, nine rebounds while Carlson worked for 14 points, six rebounds.

Sophomore Lydia Songer (Wexford PA/Pine Richland) chipped in nine points while Freshman Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) grabbed seven rebounds.

“We are back home on Saturday,” said Wynn. “Home is nice.”

Geneva hosts Thiel College on Saturday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m.
