Women’s 4x800 Record Breaking Relay Highlight Geneva at Spire

Geneva women track

Spire, OH – Records are being reset across the board in the opening two weeks of the women’s indoor track and field 2016 season.

Last week, Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) reset Geneva’s indoor hurdle record (9.56). This week, at the Spire Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open, it was the Geneva’s 4x800 relay team that reset the record at 10:18.29.

“The 4x800 team had a great meet breaking the school record,” said head coach Phil Thompson.

“There was some great competition and they stepped up to the challenge.”

Sophomore Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland Valley), junior Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA / Spring Grove Area), freshmen Hannah Mansell (Reading, PA / Governor Mifflin), and Havilah Gaugler (Emsworth, PA / Avonworth) ran the race at 10:18.29, etching their names into Geneva’s history books.

Nicole Bartoletta continued her strong season start by running 9.67 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles.

“The team had some great performances at Spire,” said Thompson.

The Geneva women’s track and field is back in action on Friday, February 5 at the Crimson and Gold Invitational at Oberlin (OH).
